The remote desert of Tabernas, one of the most dramatic landscapes in Spain, is the only semi-desert in Europe. Here in the middle of this breathtaking landscape you can find the Casa Cueva Calatrava, in the heart of the natural park. Cave-houses are a great example of the adaptation of popular architecture to the characteristics of the environment in which arid and poor soils are found. In these cave-houses you can enjoy a nice temperature of around 20º all year round - cool for the summer and warm for the winter. This is a great advantage for a region like Tabernas where temperatures can be very extreme (0º to 48º). The cave-house

The rooms

 The house comprises of three homely bedrooms, located inside the cave. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed. All bed-lining is provided. 

This is the part of the house which is inside the cave, this way you are guaranteed a constant temperature even at night. Or during the siesta time, you can enjoy a nice cool temperature, while it's boiling outside.

The living room

Enjoy a big living/kitchen-dining room, with sofa-bed, fireplace, candles and a wide variety of books. The kitchen is open plan.

A living room where you can enjoy silence, peace and tranquillity surrounded by gorgeous mountains. Enjoy relaxing, chatting to friends and family, or reading many of the books that you can find in the house. However, just in case you miss it, you can also watch some television. In case of emergencies, there is also lanterns and candles. 

The house has a bathroom with bath, hot water, first-aid kit, toiletries for men and women, as well as towels. 

The house can also offer a fully fitted kitchen with all the necessary equipment, anything that you need to feel like at home and do all the cooking that you want: hob, plates, glasses, cutlery, pans, coffee maker, fridge, grill, and many more.

Terrace and views

At the entrance of the house, there is a big terrace where you can enjoy stunning views of the mountains, and there you can relax while you enjoy the sunset. 

We want you to use this as another room of the house, there is a bench, table and chairs, and you can even enjoy a nice evening meal al fresco.

The Casa Cueva Calatrava is the ideal starting point for many sightseeing trips and activities that you can enjoy in the Desert of Tabernas, the Karst and Yesos of Sorbas, and Almeria.
